Bangkok tightens control of construction site workers for Covid-19

News

Thai and migrant workers involved in construction are being strictly screened to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang said via Facebook.

As construction sites were areas where many people gathered, especially in workers camps, officials must be precise on check-ups. In Bangkok, there are 402 workers’ camps consisting of 58,000 labourers, he said.

Besides the Covid-19 screening, Bangkok officials have advised district offices on how to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at the construction site, as well as in camps for workers’ accommodation, such as providing virus surveillance coordination with public health centres in the area performing daily health screening and giving instructions on hygiene and social distancing.

In addition, Bangkok will bring the BKK Covid-19 system to screen and detect infections among workers at construction sites to reduce the risk of the spreading disease.
