Phuket ends sub-district border closures

News

Phuket will lift the closure of borders between subdistricts, except five high-risk areas, provincial governor Phakphong Thaviphat said.

He said the infectious disease control board had agreed to open the borders.

The province would carry out preventive measures in closed areas, such as screening all those who arrive and leave or send officials to check people suspected of carrying symptoms and normal people.

The province would continue to restrict people from getting out of their residences without necessary reason, he added.

The areas to continue closed are namely Bangla Road, Ban Bangtao, Ban Bang Chi Lao, and Pracha Samakkee community.

The borders will be opened on May 1, or by May 4, as the province must coordinate with central officials for this process.
