The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) will extend a temporary restriction on aircraft arrivals even after the measure expires on April 30.
CAAT director general Chula Sukmanop reportedly said the authority needs to extend anti-Covid-19 measures as the situation in several countries remains serious.
There is no need to travel to neighbouring countries, where Covid-19 is still spreading, while some countries have no directive to lift their lockdowns, he said.
However, CAAT will let the Ministry of Public Health decide on new direction after closure measures are eased or lifted.

Chiang Mai woman attempts suicide over lost job
A Chiang Mai woman who attempted suicide at a Ping River bridge after her restaurant was ordered to shut was talked out of the attempt by police on Sunday (April 26).
Chang Pheuak station police in Chiang Mai’s Meuang district were alerted to the suicide attempt at Khua Si Wiang Phink Bridge on Sunday evening and rushed to the spot.
At the scene they found a woman about 30 trying to jump from the bridge. Police spent more than two hours talking to the woman, who was weeping throughout the ordeal, until she calmed down and climbed back onto the pavement.
Officers said the women said she was under much stress after her restaurant, which was her family’s only source of income, closed to prevent Covid-19 from spreading, leaving her under much debt.
She was later sent home as a crowd of spectators sighed in relief.
